Indore Metro Project Status
As of December 2023, the construction work of Phase 1 is going at a fast pace. Phase 1, which is also referred to as Yellow Line, Line 3, or Priority Corridor is under the development stage and has successfully passed all the test drives the authority (Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited) has conducted till now including all the safety trial runs and main trial run which was conducted on 30 September 2023 by organizing a mega public event attended by around 10,000 people.
The first set of metro train cars was also delivered a month before the main trial. If you do not know about the Madhya Pradesh Metro Train order then let me tell you that, MPMRCL has already awarded an order of 52 metro trains worth Rs 32,000 Crore to a French mobility company Alstom.
The latest Indore Metro news was about the RVNL-URC Joint Venture which won bidding for the design and construction of an elevated viaduct and 5 elevated metro stations Shaheed Bagh, Khajrana Chauraha, Bengali Chauraha, Patrakar Colony, and Palasia Chauraha.

Indore Metro ISA Contract
Three firms have submitted bids for the Indore Metro Independent Safety Assessor contract and these firms are –
- Bureau Veritas (India) Pvt. Ltd.
- TUV INDIA Pvt. Ltd.
- TUV SUD South Asia Pvt. Ltd.
These three bidders have submitted their bids for Package BH-IN-11 which includes the following key aspects. Here I will share the Indore Metro ISA contract aspects.
- “Conducting safety assessments of the Signaling and train Control, Platform Screen Door, Rolling Stock, and their interfaces with other subsystems.”
- “Ensuring compliance with international standards such as EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129, IEC 61508, IEC 62267, IEC 62290-1,2, and any other applicable national/international standards.”
- “Excluding construction safety or security aspects, as well as civil engineering assets such as tunnels, viaducts, or station buildings.”
- “Carrying out safety activities throughout the design, manufacturing, testing & commissioning, and operation & maintenance phases of the system life cycle.”
Currently, the bids are under technical evaluation, and after completion, the financial bids of the technical evaluation qualified bidders will be opened which means that the company will play a crucial role in operating independent safety assessment and audit of signaling & train control systems, transport and its interfaces with rolling stock.
