Indore is at its high speed of infrastructure development, especially the Metro project. As we all know, the construction work of the Rapid transit system in Indore is going on. The whole project is planned under different phases and currently, the infrastructure we are able to see across the city is part of Phase 1.

Phase 1 metro line is labeled as Line 3 (there are a total of 5 metro lines approved for Indore Metro System and they are named Line 1A, Line 1B, Line 2, Line 3, and Line 4) which is 31.34 kilometers long route of elevated and underground metro corridor.

Line 3 which is also referred to as the Yellow Line will connect Bhawarsala to Palasia and around 29 metro stations will be on this route to cater to passengers. As I have mentioned here this corridor will be a combination of an elevated and underground system, so there will also be some elevated and underground metro stations. 23 metro stations are on-ground while 6 are underground metro stations on Line 3 Indore Metro Route.

As of December 2023, most of the construction work Yellow line is completed while a few areas remain to be fully developed and somewhere the work is about to start. On the completed line, the Managing Directory of Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited, Mr. Manish Singh personally visited the metro station and attended the Indore Metro Safety Trial run conducted on 13 September 2023.

Nearly 13 days before this Safety trial run, the first Metro train was brought from Sanand, Gujarat to Gandhi Nagar station of Indore. This train has 3 metro cars and the safety trial run of 5.8 kilometers was conducted from the inspection bay line of Gandhi Nagar metro station amid rain thus speed of the train was kept too slow.

Apart from that, the Indore Metro Rail Project 6.3 km trial run was also completed on 30th September at 6:00 PM on the priority corridor. It was a mega-public event attended by nearly 10,000 people.

RVNL has collaborated with URC Construction Pvt Ltd for the Indore Metro Rail project worth Rs 543 Crore. RVNL-URC joint venture was the lowest bidder for this project as per the media reports.

After winning the bidding and project, the RVNL-URC joint venture will be responsible for the design and construction of an elevated viaduct and 5 elevated metro stations Shaheed Bagh, Khajrana Chauraha, Bengali Chauraha, Patrakar Colony, and Palasia Chauraha.

After emerging as the lowest bidder for the Indore Metro Rail Project worth Rs 543 Crore, RVNL shares soared like never before.
